It’s also a pretty taxing game to run with all of its realistic graphics. However, the Switch 2 runs this futuristic story like a dream. For all you Sonic toto macau fans out there, the new updated Sonic x Shadow Generations re-release brings back one of the best modern Sonic games, but adds a healthy heaping of everyone’s favorite-but-evil hedgehog, Shadow.
Such are the demands of the economy on default difficulty, it feels as if you need to optimize every single second of the game’s 24-hour day-and-night cycle. Jan Botanist gets to work making veggies in the garden, then rustles up nourishing meals in the kitchen. Jan Refiner processes the raw materials; Jan Scientist researches new technologies in his lab. The day’s labor consumes your attention with its pleasing machinic rhythm.

Ironheart Review: “a Relic Of Marvel’s Content-at-all-costs Era”
Moral ambiguity usually amounts to whether something bad will happen now, or whether it might happen at a more severe scale later. Decisions culminate in fun ways, especially towards the end where sidequests and the critical path cleverly intersect. Nevertheless, it all builds towards a climax that, while satisfying, loses some of the ambiguity that seems to define the series.
When I’m not in conversation with someone, that someone forgets that I’m there. Nothing happens in this world unless I’m invited to make it happen or I’m bearing witness to it. This doesn’t make Avowed bad—I loved it—but it’s symptomatic of one area where it falls short compared to its contemporaries, not to mention the first-person Bethesda games it’s clearly modelled on. I can’t attack anyone at will and suffer the consequences (though the narrative stages ample opportunities for me to kill or have mercy). Likewise, while stealth is an option, it’s usually just a means to get an upper hand on a particular foe.
After seeing the game’s Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) order the death of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), Gi-hun becomes a visibly grief-stricken shell of his former, more determined self. Lee offers a convincingly chilling depiction of a once fiery crusader grappling with this failed mission to end the games for good. As Gi-hun becomes overtaken with guilt and quiet rage, he nails the complexities of a person battling the forces aligned against him and, at times, losing.
However, Star Wars Outlaws essentially delivers a Han Solo-like experience in both good and bad ways; it has some handsome looks and a strong sense of adventure, but it’s also somewhat scruffy around the edges and is liable to let you down from time to time. With FPS elements mixed with action-RPG mechanics, Cyberpunk 2077 offers a detailed open world and some of the best quest lines in modern gaming, period. In our Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 hands-on preview, we note that the game feels as if we’re running the title on a PC with settings ranging from “Medium” to “High”.
The virus is spreading fast, so my nameless, voiceless and fully-customisable envoy must put a nip in its fungal bud before it spreads to the Aedyr empire proper. Being able to explore unimpeded is paramount because Outlaws does such a great job teasing you with secrets to find or opportunities to pursue in an extremely organic way as you move through its four main worlds. While her end goal may be considerably smaller in scope than, say, blowing up a Death Star, the environments Kay’s entertaining saga unfolds in are surprisingly large. To be clear, this isn’t No Man’s Skywalker or even Starfield Wars, so you don’t have the freedom to circle each planet and land wherever you choose.
If that’s not enough, you can catch him in theaters this holiday when he’s set to appear in the newest Sonic movie. However, the breakout hit in the indie scene is undoubtedly Balatro, the roguelike poker game many players could not put down. After initially releasing on PC and consoles, Balatro is now also available on mobile, which is where I’ve been playing this twisted little roguelike.
This isn’t a story beat that slowly gets revealed over time as the alters realize why they were created, but a head-on breach of the topic. You are immediately confronted with the reality of your decision. The game wants you to understand that the alters are more than just your labor force, they’re people with experiences and memories – even if they’re simulated. Jan Technician decided to stand up to his abusive father, whereas Jan Prime left for university and never looked back. There’s tension between the two men upon realizing this, and it quickly becomes apparent how someone so close to you can also simultaneously feel so far away. There’s also a life-saving ‘uphold production’ option where you can set an item to a minimum number, and it will automatically add that item to the production queue when it falls below that number.
Outside, 11 Bit flexes its art chops with considerable verve. Gnarled, tree-like rock formations curl across the arid terrain; matter swirls within shimmering physics-defying anomalies; a vast cosmic sea churns menacingly. Needless to say, this is a video game-y video game which doesn’t aim to deliver a memorable narrative experience, but I’ll admit it’s got enough juice on that front to make some skeptics care and maybe fall into the trap of its rock-solid gameplay loop.
Once I’ve attacked—whether from cover or using an invisibility spell—every baddie in the vicinity knows I’m there. Avowed is surprisingly combat heavy, especially in its second half. It’s possible to play with the usual array of melee weapons—swords, axes, spears, maces—but you’d be missing out on a lot if you’re not playing Avowed like 21st century Hexen, mixing powerful ranged attacks with down-and-dirty close quarters hacking. Every one-handed weapon can be dual-wielded, so I normally roamed with a grimoire in one hand and a fire-enchanted sword in the other, raining down elemental area of effect attacks on bears, bugs and lizardmen before sprinting in to hack away. For the magic averse, it’s also possible to muscle about with a mace in one hand and a pistol in the other, for example.
